Steamship arrival, August 26, 1910

Smartly-dressed people greet a steamship coming into port

Smartly-dressed people congregate at the bottom of Centre Street to meet the steamship coming into port.

When this photo was taken in 1910, steamships were the sole means of transportation to Prince Rupert until the railway was completed.

The 1910 Fire Insurance Plan shows Centre Street coming up diagonally from the wharf towards 2nd Avenue.
