Metlakatla Brass Band

The Metlakatla Brass Band was the first adult First Nations brass band in British Columbia. The Band was so popular and successful that it became the model for many other First Nations communities, who aspired to have their own band. Established by missionary William Duncan, the original brass band had twenty-one players. They were invited to perform for various dignitaries and at Dominion Day celebrations in Prince Rupert in the early 1910s.
